What information is collected

Contact form

If you use the contact form, the information you submit (such as your name, email address, and message) is sent to the site owner in order to respond to your enquiry. This information is not used for any other purpose, is not shared with third parties (other than the service providers below, who help deliver the form), and is not added to any mailing list unless you separately request this.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are popular and how people navigate between them. This involves the use of cookies and similar technologies that may collect information such as your approximate location, device and browser type, and how you interact with the site.

Google Analytics only runs if you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. If you decline or have not made a choice, no analytics data is collected.

Google Analytics processes some data on Google's servers, which may be located outside the UK/EEA. More information is available in Google's Privacy Policy.

hCaptcha

The contact form uses hCaptcha to help prevent spam and automated abuse. hCaptcha may set cookies and process some technical information (such as your IP address and browser characteristics) as part of this check. This is considered strictly necessary for the contact form to function securely and does not require separate consent. More information is available in hCaptcha's Privacy Policy.

Fonts

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Loading these fonts may involve your device making a request to Google's servers, which could share your IP address with Google as part of that request. Google's font delivery does not set cookies.

Cookies

This site uses the following types of cookies:

Strictly necessary: a cookie that remembers your cookie consent choice, so you're not asked again on every visit. Also, cookies set by hCaptcha on the contact page, for fraud prevention.

Analytics: cookies set by Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies via the consent banner.

You can manage or withdraw your consent for analytics cookies at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer.

How long information is kept

Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to respond to and resolve your enquiry, and are deleted afterwards unless there's a reason to retain them (for example, ongoing correspondence).

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard settings. Aggregate reporting data (such as overall visitor numbers) may be retained indefinitely; detailed event-level data is retained for a limited period as set in Google Analytics.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, request that it be corrected or deleted, and object to certain types of processing (such as analytics). To exercise any of these rights, get in touch via the contact form or mj@booksaresocial.com.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been handled incorrectly.

This policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes to the site or the services it uses. The most recent version will always be available at this page.
